Unlike the highly capable Toad you can play as, regular Toads found in the World Gallery and levels are nothing special. Sometimes they have hints or advice; other times they're just being useless and getting captured.
You can't really blame 'em, though. If everyone was as good a hero as Mario, the Mushroom Kingdom wouldn't be in need of his services so often, right?
